Deborah Talenfeld has represented both debtors and creditors in Chapter 11 filings. In addition, she has represented trustees in actions filed in bankruptcy court by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation against broker-dealers under the Securities Investor Protection Act seeking to protect and reimburse investors, as well as trace and recover missing assets. For more than 15 years, she has also served as counsel and administered numerous product liability claims for a post-confirmation claims resolution trust.
During a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case, Deborah assisted in unfurling a complex fraud committed by the debtor's principal, leading to the return of millions of dollars to creditors and the ultimate imprisonment of the individual responsible for the fraud.
From 2003 - 2006, she served on the panel of Chapter 7 trustees for the Southern District of Florida. As a trustee, she administered the assets of both corporate and individual debtors seeking protection under Chapter 7 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. These duties included the prosecution of bankruptcy-related litigation, the analysis of creditor claims and, where appropriate, making distributions to creditors from the numerous estates under her administration.
