Biography

Dedria Harper practices with the Labor and Employment Law Group.

Her experience includes:

· Investigating Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claims

· Defending employers against discrimination charges, including a class action Title VII discrimination case

· Conducting investigations regarding employee misconduct

· Reviewing and updating employee handbooks to ensure compliance with state and federal statutes

· Developing reduction in force strategies for compliance with the WARN Act

Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, Ms. Harper was an associate with K&L Gates. She also held two summer clerkships at firms in Raleigh and Charlotte as well as an internship with Justice Paul Newby of the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Ms. Harper earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her law degree, magna cum laude, from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she was staff editor of the NCCU Law Journal and worked with the Innocence Project.

Her publications include State Class Actions, Matthew Ball, editor (Aspen Publishing, 2010).
