Professional Experience:
Ms. Chanez is an Associate in the Albuquerque office. She practices in the Litigation Department with an emphasis on health law and medical malpractice. Ms. Chanez also has experience in the areas of employment, civil rights, education, personal injury, and media law. Ms. Chanez has defended government entities and private employers at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative tribunals. After graduating from law school, Ms. Chanez clerked for the Honorable Edward L. Chávez, former Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court.
As a law student, Ms. Chanez served as a Student Articles Editor of the New Mexico Law Review. She was also a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association Moot Court Team, which won a national championship. Ms. Chanez also served two terms as president of the Mexican American Law Student Association (MALSA). She received the UNM School of Law's Faculty Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Law School, the A.H. McLeod Prize for Interest and Skill in Advocacy, and Clinical Honors for Outstanding Performance in the Clinical Program.
