Dennis Chalupa

Dennis F. Chalupa was born and raised in a small rural farming community in Southeast Iowa. He received his undergraduate business degree at Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa in 1966 and his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1970. Prior to attending law school, he spent a year working for Brendix Corporation at Teterboro, New Jersey. He began his law career in 1970, serving as Jasper County Attorney and also engaging in private practice. Dennis joined the law firm of Brierly, McCall & Girdner, and the predecessor to the present firm in 1971. While completing his term as County Attorney, he practiced part-time with the firm. He prosecuted many cases through trial as County Attorney and thereafter continued focusing his law practice in the area of litigation. Dennis devotes most of his time to plaintiff's personal injury, worker's compensation, business transactions and family litigation. Board certification in Civil Trial Advocacy was awarded to Dennis in 2001, certifying special competence in the field of civil trial advocacy. In addition to his active trial practice, Dennis has served on the Board of Governors of the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association since 1991, has been an officer since 2001, and was elected President for the 2005-2006 term. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership requires a settlement or verdict in excess of one million dollars. He is frequently requested to speak on various areas of the trial practice. Both Dennis and the law firm have received the highest rating given by Martindale-Hubbell, the recognized publication rating lawyers in the United States.
