Mr. Smith is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group as well as the Business Trial Practice Group in the firm's Los Angeles office.
Areas of Practice
Mr. Smith has worked on intellectual property matters including patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret. He has represented companies involved in diverse technologies, including DNA sequencing, solar-powered LED devices, carbon fiber composite fabrication, cryptographic coprocessor-based e-commerce, smartcard technology, orthotic medical devices, optical coatings and thin films, pet products, fax-to-email technology, golf clubs, IPv6 hardware including dual-stack servers and routers, implantable bariatric medical devices, integrated circuit cards, and nanomaterials used in advanced lithium-ion energy systems.
Mr. Smith has also worked on a wide range of business litigation (including breach of contract, unfair competition, intentional interference with prospective economic advantage, intentional interference with contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing) as well as corporate litigation such as unwinding of corporate merger.
