Dennis M. McWilliams is retired of counsel in the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Department. He concentrates his practice in all phases of patent and trademark prosecution and litigation.
Mr. McWilliams has lectured on patent and trademark matters and has assisted in teaching courses in patent application preparation and claim drafting. He is listed in Who's Who in American Law and the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® in the Intellectual Property area.
Mr. McWilliams was awarded his B.S. in mechanical engineering and B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. He received his J.D. from Loyola University. Mr. McWilliams has been active in the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association, including acting as a committee chair for many years. Mr. McWilliams is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and in numerous federal district and appellate courts across the United States as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Additionally, he is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. McWilliams has been recognized by the Leading Lawyers Network as one of the 2010 Leading Lawyers in Illinois and is also listed in Illinois Super Lawyers.
