Dennis McCooe concentrates his practice in intellectual property matters with significant experience in:
· litigation in federal and state courts
· prosecution and enforcement of domestic and international trademark applications
· representation of registrants and applicants in inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board
· management of domestic and international intellectual property portfolios
· development of comprehensive branding strategies
· counseling clients regarding Internet, e-commerce, privacy and copyright issues
· drafting and negotiating software and intellectual property licenses
While in law school, Mr. McCooe was the managing editor of the Rutgers Computer & Technology Law Journal.
Representative Matters
· Obtained preliminary and permanent injunctions on behalf of publisher whose trademarks and copyrighted photographs were infringed by a rival publisher and web site developer
· Lead defense counsel to insurance company and its officers in copyright, Lanham Act, and fraud litigation. Following summary judgment motions, all claims were dismissed
· Successfully defended consumer products company against multi-million dollar antitrust and Lanham Act claims. At trial, jury awarded only nominal damages
· Regularly represent clients in domain name disputes pursuant to ICANN arbitration procedures and the Anti-cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act
· Acted as the interim chief intellectual property counsel to a $7 billion dollar consumer products company. Responsible for: managing global trademark, copyright and patent portfolio; drafting and negotiating licenses and agreements; and counseling management on various intellectual property issues
· Local counsel to the world's leading social media company in several patent infringement cases
