Dewey B. Crawford is a partner and co-chair of Foley's Chicago Business Law Department. He is a member of the firm's Transactional & Securities and Finance & Financial Institutions Practices. Mr. Crawford's practice is concentrated on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, institutional private placements, and the representation of investment banks as underwriters, initial purchasers and financial advisors. Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Crawford was a partner at the Chicago office of Gardner, Carton & Douglas, where he was past chairman of the firm's Corporate Department and its Lending and Investment, Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Placements Practice Groups. He was also a member of the firm's Management Committee, chair of its Compensation Committee, its Opinion Committee, and co-chair of its Billing & Collections Committee. Mr. Crawford represents public and private corporations engaged in telecommunications, manufacturing, financial services and consulting. He regularly represents institutional investors in the purchase of privately placed debt securities. In addition, he frequently counsels boards of directors and special committees on corporate governance matters. Mr. Crawford is a former chairman of the Securities Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association and of the Section Council of the Section on Corporation and Securities Law of the Illinois State Bar Association. He is a member of the Corporate Governance, Developments in Business Financing, Federal Regulation of Securities and Negotiated Acquisitions Committees of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, a fellow of the American College of Investment Counsel, and an adjunct professor in the Financial Services Law Program at ITT-Kent College of Law.
