Reviser of the Scotland Law Digest for this Directory.
Digby Brown is one of the largest personal injury firms in Scotland with over 90 years of experience in providing legal services. We have a strong geographical presence, with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Glenrothes. We specialise in pursuer reparation (approximately 90% of our work), where we have built up a reputation as a field leader in claims arising from accidents at work, industrial disease and road traffic accidents. In particular, Robert Swanney, senior partner, specialises in claims for those who suffer catastrophic injuries in accidents, including severe head trauma and spinal injury. We also cover employment law, clinical negligence, adoption and welfare rights advice. We act for Trade Union members as well as a large number of private clients on a legal aid and speculative basis.
We are also heavily committed to use of the latest technology in our everyday business, using permanent data link and digital voice lines between our offices, and constant desktop internet access for each fee-earner. All our staff are well versed in the use of such technology to aid the progress of the case work.
There are presently 13 partners in the firm, employing 6 associates, 9 assistant solicitors, 6 trainee solicitors and 9 paralegals. Many of our solicitors are members of APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) and Graeme Garrett, managing partner, is a former convener of the Law Society of Scotland Personal Injury Panel and member of the Ogden Tables Working Party. The firm has expanded significantly over the last few years and continues to look towards further development.
