Dirk Rueter is a partner in the Business Law Group and Co-Head of the Structured Finance Group in Toronto. Mr. Rueter's practice focuses primarily on structured finance, including asset-backed financings, factoring arrangements and derivative transactions.
Mr. Rueter has been involved in creating both multi-seller and single-seller securitization structures. Throughout his career, he has acted for purchasers, sellers, rating agencies, trustees, liquidity providers and credit enhancers in various conduit-based and single-seller securitizations involving numerous asset classes, including leases, residential and commercial mortgages, trade receivables, retail instalment contracts and stranded costs. Mr. Rueter has also acted as issuer and arranger counsel in Canadian covered bond transactions.
Mr. Rueter has represented some of the most significant corporations and financial institutions in Canada. He has been recognized each year as one of the leading lawyers in the area of asset securitization in both the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and LEXPERT/The American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada. Mr. Rueter also appears in Euromoney Legal Media Group's 2010 Guide to the World's Leading Structured Finance and Securitization Lawyers and in the 2011 edition of Chambers Global: World's Leading Lawyers for Business as a leading lawyer in the area of banking and finance. Mr. Rueter is also recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading lawyer in the field of structured finance law. He has participated in and spoken at a number of industry conferences in Canada in the areas of securitization and structured finance generally.
Mr. Rueter holds an LLB from Osgoode Hall (1990) and was called to the Ontario bar in 1992.
