Background
Domenic Damiani is a partner at our Toronto office and is a member of the Electricity Markets Group. Domenic has a joint LL.B./M.B.A. having graduated from the combined LL.B./M.B.A. programme at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business, York University. As a result of Domenic's specialization in commercial real estate, he obtained a Graduate Diploma, Real Property Development from the Schulich School of Business, York University. Prior to his legal education, in 1994 Domenic received a Bachelor of Arts degree (with High Distinction) from the University of Toronto.
Areas of Practice
ˇ As a member of the Electricity Markets Group, Domenic advises a wide range of energy market participants, including distributors, district energy companies, and generators with respect to a variety of commercial and transaction related matters.
ˇ Prior to joining the Electricity Markets Group in 2006, Domenic was a member of the Commercial Real Estate Group. As a commercial real estate lawyer, Domenic gained considerable experience advising clients in connection with long-term ground and commercial leases, land and income property purchases and sales, option agreements, financings, limited partnerships, municipal matters, and residential and commercial development.
Professional Experience
ˇ Advising clients with respect to Ontario provincial electricity procurement contracts including contracts for the purchase and sale of electricity from combined heat and power facilities, and renewable energy generation projects.
ˇ Preparing and assisting both generators and hosts in connection with combined heat and power off-take agreements.
ˇ Advising clients in connection with generation connection issues.
ˇ Advising distributors and generators in connection with regulatory codes such as the Affiliate Relationships Code for Distributors and Transmitters, the Distribution System Code, and the Transmission System Code.
ˇ Advising clients regarding option agreements, long-term leases, and easements for freehold and leasehold acquisitions in connection with wind powered generation projects, combined heat and power generation projects, and district energy projects.
