Background
Donna Spagnolo is a partner at our Toronto office. Donna was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1998. She received her Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1996.
Prior to that, she received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, Trinity College, in 1993, graduating with high distinction.
Areas of Practice
Donna practises corporate law with an emphasis on:
· securities law, particularly in connection with the investment management industry;
· financial services regulatory matters, particularly in connection with the insurance industry; and
· general commercial law, particularly in connection with regulated entities.

· Advises market actors in public offerings and private placements.
· Advises on securities regulatory, governance and compliance matters, particularly for investment fund managers. Deals with Canadian securities regulators on a regular basis.
· Advises buyers and sellers in corporate acquisitions, divestitures and reorganizations.
· Advises insurance brokers and insurance companies on regulatory, compliance, licensing and commercial issues. Deals with Canadian insurance regulators on a regular basis.
Professional and Community Activities
· Member of the Canadian Bar Association (Business Law Section).
· Member of the Board of Turning Point Youth Services, a non-profit organization for youth.
· Has spoken on various issues facing the insurance industry with respect to the Internet and privacy legislation.
