Upon graduation from law school, Doug worked for two years as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alabama, prosecuting felonies throughout the state. Doug returned home to Mobile in 1984 and has been in private practice in Mobile, specializing in commercial real estate, land use and construction law. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Alabama, and is past Chairman of the Mobile City Planning Commission.
In addition, Doug is listed as one of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Real Estate Law and is very active in the Mobile Association of Realtors and the Homebuilders Association of Metro Mobile, serving as their local counsel since 1990. In 2010, he was named to the E. L. Jones Hall of Fame. The E. L. Jones award of merit was established in 1971 and recognizes a member for his contribution to the home building industry. Doug is an emeritus member of the group's board of directors and has served as legal counsel for the builder group for more than 20 years.
Doug is a native of Mobile. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alabama in 1979 and his law degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1982.
Noteworthy Experience:
· Alter Trading, Corp.: obtained zoning and planning approval for a metal shredding facility.
· SaltAire Development, LLC: advised developer/owner in the creation of an Alabama Improvement District and developing 500 acres on Mobile Bay.
· Lafayette Plaza Hotel: counseled hotel owner in $8,000,000 GO Zone bond issue.
