About this office:

A Central Texas institution since 1925, the Waco law firm of Dunnam & Dunnam, L.L.P. continues to pride itself on delivering expert legal services across the board to its clientele. Generations of Central Texans have trusted the Dunnam firm to handle the most important, life-changing matters a person can encounter: catastrophic injuries and deaths, divorces, adoptions, arrests, business formations and dissolutions, and litigation in all areas. The firm is also available to assist in estate planning, trust formation, real estate transactions and other such legal matters which still need the utmost expertise delivered under the current state of the law.

Senior partner Vance Dunnam, who joined the firm in 1952 with his father and older brother Bill, ensures that the firm continues to deliver expert legal services of the highest caliber, the foundation upon which the firm was built. Ever mindful of the reputation established by his father in 1925, Vance relates how that reputation for caring and serving the community carries through today. "It is almost a daily occurrence that someone comes through our doors and says 'My parents said if you ever have a problem, go to the Dunnams and they will take care of you.'" It is with great pride and determination that the same tradition continues today.

The firm's seven partners have more than 160 years combined experience in the practice of law. Vance Dunnam, Vance Dunnam Jr., Jim Dunnam, Merrilee Harmon, John Mabry, Bob Angel and Thomas West are all certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in at least one area of law. Vance Dunnam in Family Law, Vance Dunnam, Jr. in Estate Planning and Probate Law since 1988 and Residential Real Estate Law since 1989 and Commercial Real Estate Law since 1990, Jim Dunnam in Civil Trial Law and Family Law, Merrilee Harmon in Family Law, John Mabry in Personal Injury Trial Law, Bob Angel in Family Law and Thomas West in Criminal Law. The Dunnam firm is one of the few law firms in Texas where all partners hold board certifications. In fact, Dunnam & Dunnam has the rare distinction of having two partners with multiple board certifications by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Voted the best law firm in Waco in 2007 by the readers of the Wacoan, Dunnam & Dunnam has produced lawyers over the years who have also gone on to achieve great success as judges and legislators. Former Dunnam attorneys include a federal district judge, a Texas Supreme Court justice, two Texas state district court judges, and three members of the Texas House of Representatives. The firm also appears in the 2009 edition of Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, achieving recognition as preeminent attorneys in the areas of civil trial practice, criminal trial practice, family law, general practice, personal injury, real estate law, trusts and estates, and wills and probate.
