Hutch Robbins is the head of the firm's Commercial and Business Litigation practice group. He represents a broad array of businesses and individuals in business litigation, and he has extensive experience in all facets of state and federal trial and appellate practice. Mr. Robbins is co-Chair of the firm's Finance and Investments Industry Team, and focuses his practice on the representation of financial institutions. He also routinely represents parties to business disputes concerning, among other issues, sales of goods under the Uniform Commercial Code, breaches of fiduciary duty and fraud in corporate governance, ownership of real property and related property rights, breaches of contract, and business torts. Mr. Robbins counsels the firm's clients in the areas of risk avoidance and alternative dispute resolution, and he provides contract review and commercial transaction advice to several of his clients. Examples of some of the results Mr. Robbins has recently obtained for his clients include: · Representation of a major, regional financial institution in the successful prosecution of claims against an estate and a trust to recover $52 million in debt. · A full defense verdict after a one month jury trial for a client charged with breaches of fiduciary duty and fraud in corporate governance. · Summary judgment for a national financial institution in a federal court putative class action alleging violations of the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. · A multimillion dollar settlement for an equipment manufacturer upon the inception of litigation against a sub-vendor concerning the design of critical component parts. · A jury verdict in excess of the amount demanded for a client whose efforts to raise venture capital for a software firm had gone unrewarded.
