Biography

Earl Mellott has extensive experience in business and transactional matters. He counsels clients on issues including strategy, formation and structuring of corporations and partnerships, and advises on general business activities and guidance in acquisition and financing transactions.

Earl has represented buyers and sellers in numerous mergers and acquisitions involving both public and private companies across many industries. His representations have included cross-border acquisitions, development of overseas joint ventures and organization of international operations. Earl has also worked with a number of private equity funds in both fund formation and investment activity.

Earl is one of the founders and leaders of Foley Hoag's Interactive Media and Technology practice. He is also active in other aspects of the firm's technology practices, including software, information technology energy technology and renewables.

Earl takes an active role in the leadership at Foley Hoag, serving as Chair of the firm's Associate Review Committee. His insight into the needs of the buyer of legal services was enhanced when he served as an Associate General Counsel at one of the country's largest health insurers, acting as corporate counsel to operating companies in several states.
