Biography

Ed focuses his practice primarily on representing debtor corporations in complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy and restructuring matters. In addition, he has also represented a number of official committees, landlords and both secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings. Ed has been recognized in Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business for his "clear understanding of the nuances of bankruptcy law." He has also been identified by The Deal as a "Top Bankruptcy Lawyer".

Some of his most significant cases to date include Lee Enterprises, Future Claimants Representative in Bondex, Pliant Corporation, Merisant Worldwide Inc., Smurfit Stone Container, Flying J Inc., Budget Rent-A-Car, Alterra Healthcare Corporation, R .H. Donnelley Publishing, and Sun-Times Media Group.

In addition to his extensive experience in representing companies and corporations in their restructuring efforts, Ed is also a member of the Firm's Hiring Committee and the Business Development Committee.

Young Conaway acted as lead counsel for Alterra Healthcare Corporation, the nation's largest operator of freestanding Alzheimer's and memory care residences.

America Online Latin America, Inc.

Budget Group, Inc.
Young Conaway acted as co-counsel to Budget Group, Inc. and its affiliated debtors, which operated one of the world's largest car and truck rental businesses.

Cable & Wireless USA, Inc.

DURA Automotive Systems, Inc.
Young Conaway serves as co-counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of DURA Automotive Systems, the largest independent designer and manufacturer of Driver Control Systems, and a leading supplier of door modules, glass systems, seat mechanisms and structures, and engineered assemblies.

Young Conaway served as co-counsel for Golden Books, which published, produced, licensed and marketed an extensive range of children and family-related media and entertainment products.

Young Conaway acted as co-counsel to Integrated Health Services, Inc. (and certain of its affiliates), one of the nation's leading providers of post-acute and related specialty healthcare services and products, in its chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

Young Conaway acted as co-counsel to Meridian Automotive and its affiliated debtors, which are producers and suppliers to automotive original equipment manufacturers of front-and rear-end modules, bumper systems, exterior composite plastic modules, exterior structural components, interior components and modules, and exterior lighting components.

Young Conaway acted as lead counsel in the chapter 11 liquidation of Pic 'N Pay Stores, Inc.

Pliant Corporation
Young Conaway served as bankruptcy co-counsel to Pliant Corporation, one of the world's largest flexible packaging manufacturers. In July of 2006, Pliant Corporation and its debtor affiliates emerged from chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in just over six months, restructuring nearly $600 million in debt.
