Edmund (Ted) Smith joined in 1974. He became a partner in 1976 and was a member of the Management Committee from 1983 to 2000. Ted is a member of the Real Estate Group and Infrastructure Team, and former co-chair of the firm.
Practice
Ted practises in the area of real estate law, including land development; subdivision development; condominium development financing and sales, both residential and commercial; commercial leasing and lease enforcement; real estate joint venture structuring; real estate syndication; hotel and resort development and syndication; nursing home development and syndication; non-resident acquisition of commercial real estate; development and financing of freezer warehouses; construction contract negotiation and dispute resolution; land assemblies; density transfers; sale leaseback transactions; real estate financing, including term loans and construction financing; enforcement of security against real estate assets; and real estate restructuring and workouts. He has been a senior advisor to a publicly-traded income trust owning significant real estate assets.
