Edward (Jed) Gordon is of counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP where he is a member of the Electronics Practice. He advises clients regarding strategic portfolio development and counsels them in relation to patent enforcement strategies and defense against threatened patent infringement litigation. He also provides transactional counseling, including conducting due diligence, licensing negotiations, and freedom to operate analyses for acquisition and investment in private companies. He has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the fields of wireless networking, video displays, medical devices, computer graphics, speech processing, MEMS devices, business methods, computer networking, semiconductor processing, optical devices, video surveillance, and software.
Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Gordon was counsel with Ropes & Gray LLP.
Mr. Gordon graduated, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., 2002) where he was a contributing editor for the Michigan Law Review. He also participated in the Jessup International Law Moot Court; he was a member of the North Central Division's second place team (2000) before coaching the team to first place in the division (2001). He was a visiting student at Harvard Law School (2001-2002) and earned his undergraduate degree in science technology & society and computer science & electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (B.S., 1999).
Mr. Gordon was named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer - Rising Star in 2009 and 2010. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
