Edward M. Cherof is a Shareholder in the Atlanta, Georgia office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He is a member of the firm's Board of Directors and is the Coordinator for the firm's Southeast Regional offices.
Since joining the firm in 1986, Mr. Cherof has represented employers in all aspects of labor and employment law and litigation. He has extensive experience providing employers with strategic advice relating to union organizing and in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. He also regularly assists clients in addressing the full scope of employment law matters, including those arising under federal and state fair employment laws.
Mr. Cherof advises clients extensively in all areas of the preventive practice, including employee discipline, layoffs, wage and hour matters, human resource policies, drug testing and disability management.
Mr. Cherof frequently lectures on labor and employment law developments before professional and business organizations. He served as a member of the Employee and Labor Relations Committee for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and as a faculty member for SHRM's Generalist Certification Program. In 2006, Mr. Cherof was named one the Top One Hundred Labor Lawyers in the U.S. by the Labor Relations Institute.
Mr. Cherof is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, and the American Bar Association and its Section of Labor and Employment Law. He is admitted to practice before all Georgia State Courts.
Mr. Cherof spends his leisure time playing piano in several bands which appear regularly in the Atlanta area.
Mr. Cherof received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany in 1976 and his Masters of Science in Industrial Relations from Georgia State University in 1981. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a labor relations and human resources manager for Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems. Mr. Cherof earned his Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University in 1986. He has also served as in-house labor and employment law counsel at Delta Air Lines.
