Edward joined the firm in 1949 as an Associate, and was one of 10 lawyers total in the firm at that time. He was named a partner in 1954. An active member of the civic community, Edward now writes and presents extensively on Kansas City history.
Edward was honored in 1998 with the Edward T. Matheny, Jr./Missouri Endowed Chair in Neuroscience at St. Luke's Hospital.
Before law school, Edward served on the staffs of two U.S. Navy leaders in the Pacific Theater of World War II: Chester W. Nimitz, Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet and Raymond A. Spruance, Commander, Fifth Fleet.
