Eleonore Derome is an associate in our Business Law Group in Montréal. She practices corporate and securities law. Ms. Derome received a Bachelor of law degree from the Université de Montréal in 2006. During her studies, she completed an internship at the Centre for the Law of Business and International Trade at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Law. She also worked with the Honourable Charles D. Gonthier as an executive assistant for the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law Secretariat.
Ms. Derome has been involved in matters where McCarthy Tétrault acted as:
· Legal counsel to Solidarity Fund QFL in the subscription of preferred shares in the capital stock of an electronic payment processing company, for the acquisition of an electronic payment processing division of TELUS Corporation;
· Legal counsel to Kruger Inc. in the sale of assets of Longlac Wood Industries Inc.;
· Legal counsel to a syndicate of underwriters led by Canaccord Adams and Paradigm Capital Inc. in an investment of $7.2 million in GuestLogix Inc., an onboard retail technology provider to the travel industry;
· Legal counsel to the National Bank of Canada in the renewal of its debt instrument program, common stock program and preferred stock program; the renewal of its commercial paper program in the United States; the offering of 500 million dollars of medium-term notes and the offering of 689 million dollars of preferred shares;
· Legal counsel to Prognomix Inc., a venture capital company focused on the biotechnology industry, in connection with reorganizations and implementation of additional financing;
· Legal counsel to brokers as part of the 205 million dollars IPO of Mecachrome International Inc.;
· Legal counsel to issuers and trusts during the general market disruption and problems renewing asset-backed commercial papers.
Ms Derome earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2000 and a Master of Science in Economic Management and International Management in 2004 from HEC Montréal. She previously worked as a Manager for a multinational company for two years.
Ms Derome was called to the Québec Bar in 2007 and is a founding member of Young Canadians in Finance - Women's Initiative. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Young Bar Association of Montréal and the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal.
