Libby Peters is an associate in the Litigation Department of Edwards Wildman. Libby represents clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation and employment matters.
Notable Experience
· Represents clients in a wide variety of individual and class action commercial litigation matters, including products liability, building accessibility, consumer fraud, toxic tort and breach of contract cases.
· Represents employers in a wide range of matters before the Illinois Department of Employment Security, including IDES audits and worker classification investigations, contribution rate proceedings and benefits claims.
· Defends employers in employment discrimination matters and in the enforcement of non-compete restrictions and other restrictive covenants.
· Assisting in the representation of the largest U.S. roofing contractor in breach of employment covenant litigation in federal court.
· Assisting in the representation of a regional agricultural cooperative network in class action toxic tort litigation pending in Madison County, Illinois.
· Obtained summary judgment in favor of individual owner of medical practice in ongoing breach of employment contract litigation in federal court.
· Represented manufacturer seeking preliminary injunction against a competitor that launched a negative advertising campaign making false allegations about the client's product.
· Represented individual directors of a limited liability corporation in breach of fiduciary duty action brought by the Small Business Administration in its role as receiver for a Small Business Investment Company of which the limited liability corporation was the general partner.
· Pro bono work defending clients in criminal and immigration cases, and working with Family Rescue, Inc. to help clients obtain civil orders of protection. Served as a PILI Fellow at Centro Romero, a community-based organization that serves the immigrant population on the North side of Chicago.

While in law school, Libby was a Senior Editor for the Washington University Law Review, and a research assistant for a professor in the area of employment law. Libby also participated in the Washington University Appellate Clinic to appeal a client's civil rights claim to the Eighth Circuit.
