Liz Forbes is an Associate in Venable's Commercial Litigation Group, where she focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation matters, with particular emphasis on consumer class actions. Her practice encompasses all aspects of litigation in federal and state courts, including pre- and post-trial motions and discovery management. Ms. Forbes has drafted several dispositive motions and appellate briefs in various federal courts of appeal.
Significant Matters
· Successful representation on appeal of a major bank in putative class action alleging privacy and RICO violations in connection with the telemarketing, sale and administration of insurance products;
· Defending call center and debt collection company in putative class action pursuing multistate privacy claims; and
· Successfully defeating appeal of class certification in putative class action challenging magazine publisher's subscription renewal and cancellation policies.
Activities
Ms. Forbes is actively involved in Venable's recruiting efforts, and served as a coordinator of Venable's summer associate program last year.
While in law school, Ms. Forbes served as judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Dennis W. Dohnal in the Eastern District of Virginia.
