Biography

Beth Corey is a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP, where she chairs the national Real Estate Practice Group and specializes in representing U.S. and international investors in real estate assets, energy projects, investment funds and gaming for real estate acquisitions, developments, financings, leasing and workouts of distressed real estate. Her practice includes such diverse assets as retail centers, wind farms, sports arenas, hospitals, healthcare centers, senior living projects, hotels, casinos and mixed-use developments. Ms. Corey also counsels clients with gaming projects, including lotteries, casinos, Virtual Technology Lottery and Internet gaming. She has been engaged in the counsel of clients in business law since 1982, in Chicago, Illinois.

Ms. Corey has been Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating system. She was selected for inclusion in the 2010 list of The Legal 500 US, highlighting her experience in hospitality and golf development and financing as well as the 2011 list for her work in real estate. Ms. Corey is also listed in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 editions of Illinois Super Lawyers® and the Illinois Leading Lawyers list.*

In response to the current credit environment and capital market, Ms. Corey has lent her senior perspective to the representation of complex funds restructures and new fund positioning for contemplated investments.

As a member of the Sports Law Team, Ms. Corey represented the successful bidder for acquisition of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field. She also represented Rangers Baseball Express (the investment group led by Chuck Greenberg and Nolan Ryan) in its acquisition of the Texas Rangers, for real estate matters, a long and complex transaction that culminated in the sale of the club through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction.

As Real Estate Practice Group Chair, Ms. Corey manages more than 60 lawyers across Foley's offices. Her responsibilities include business and strategic planning, professional development, professional responsibility and budget management.

Ms. Corey is actively involved in other specific areas of law firm management and leadership including Foley's Diversity Committee, Partnership Selection Committee and Committee for Alternative Pricing and Service Delivery Solutions.

Ms. Corey received her law degree from New York Law School in 1982 and a B.A. from Butler University in 1973. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, the Real Estate Investment and Securities Association, the American Hospitality and Lodging Association and the American Gaming Association. Ms. Corey serves as a member of the Government Affairs Committee of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
