Elizabeth Slater Massey is an attorney in the firm's Litigation Section, where she focuses her practice on a wide variety of complex commercial litigation and business torts in state and federal courts, working on behalf of both businesses and individuals. She also represents clients on state and federal appellate matters.
While attending law school she was a judicial intern for the Honorable Alfred V. Covello of the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut. Prior to attending law school and joining the firm, Ms. Massey gained editorial and marketing eperience working at Allyn & Longman/Bacon Publishers, a leading publisher of college textbooks, in Boston, Massachusetts.

- Represented, pro bono, former corrections officer in appeal involving issues of res judicata and collateral estoppel to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Business Litigation
- Served on team representing a Connecticut town in an arbitration case involving billing procedures for sewage treatment for industrial discharge by a large paper factory. Case involved approximately $1 million in disputed sums claimed past due, plus declarations interpreting the parties' contract going forward.
- Successfully settled contract litigation for prominent national commercial property development and manager.
Complex Torts
- Currently representing plaintiffs in multi-million, multi-vehicle accident pending in complex litigation.
Real Estate
- Defended a national railroad company against inverse condemnation and trespass claims concerning an alleged easement over the railroad. This case involved complicated valuation issues related to the presence of mineable stone and rock on the property and the feasibility of developing an industrial subdivision on property that was purportedly landlocked by the alleged taking.
Pro Bono
- Represented a minor child, ensuring client kept in mother's care, in proceedings with the Children for the Department of Families and Services.
