Emi Morita Kaimuloa is a partner in the Government & Regulatory Affairs and Land Use & Environmental Practice Groups. She provides advice and counsel to business clients, government, and nonprofit organizations, on a wide variety of matters. Her practice requires diverse knowledge in:

• environmental and water laws
• land use, permitting, and zoning
• cultural, historic, and burial laws
• regulatory and public utility laws
• nonprofit organizational issues and board governance

With the exception of her work at the White House in Washington DC in 1996, Ms. Kaimuloa has remained an island resident for more than 35 years, providing her with significant understanding of the complex and intricate issues related to doing business in Hawaii. She has worked on the following Hawaii projects, among others:

• a university campus, including long-range plans for surrounding mixed-use lands
• master-planned residential, retail, resort, and commercial developments on Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island
• rock quarry expansion, permitting, and operation
• commercial shopping centeracquisitions
• telecommunications carrier disputes
• water permitting and issues on Maui and Oahu
• DLNR administrative enforcement actions

Ms. Kaimuloa's superior writing and advocacy skills have earned her recognition in various venues, but most importantly, have provided her clients with successful results, whether in the boardroom, during summary judgment, or on appeal.

Ms. Kaimuloa's commitment to the community goes beyond the four corners of her office. She serves on the board of Aloha Harvest, a nonprofit providing same-day delivery of perishable foods from eateries to social service agencies. She also served as president of Hawaii Women Lawyers, a nonprofit that received a national award in 2009 for its annual Mother's Day Project, which provides gift baskets of unused, donated toiletries to disadvantaged children to give to their caretakers on Mother's Day.

Ms. Kaimuloa has appeared in several local commercials, Japanese print ads, and on stage in Oklahoma! and Grease. She has also performed with 24-VII Danceforce.
