Eric Nelson is a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, and a member of the firm's Commercial Transactions & Business Counseling Practice. He is also a member of the Energy Industry Team. He focuses his practice on contractual and distribution issues, including those involving manufacturers, utilities and energy marketers. He has particular experience in product distribution, dealership matters, secured transactions, contracts for the purchase and sale of electricity, natural gas and coal, and capital equipment purchase and sale agreements. He has assisted numerous clients in bringing their products and services to market, through supply, sales representation and distribution agreements, and has advised clients regarding product recall issues.
Mr. Nelson received his bachelor's degree in business administration in 1989 from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (where he received the School of Business Distinguished Student Award), and his J.D. degree in 1992 from Yale Law School.
A member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, he served judicial clerkships with both the Hon. Clarence Thomas, Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1993-1994), and the Hon. J. Michael Luttig, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit (1992-1993), before joining the firm.
