Eric Fikry concentrates his practice in the area of commercial litigation. He frequently counsels clients in the following areas:
· gaming law and licensing
· employment law
· insurance
· contracts
As a member of the consumer financial services team, Mr. Fikry regularly represents lenders and financial institutions in a variety of consumer finance litigation matters in federal and state court. He is experienced with motions practice, oral argument, the discovery process, trial practice and post-trial work.
Mr. Fikry was chosen as one of New Jersey Law Journal's "40 Under 40" in 2010. He was also named a "New Jersey Rising Star" by New Jersey Monthly in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
Representative Matters
· Successfully obtained first commercial gaming license for a Native American tribe.
· Co-counsel in the successful defense of casino license in multiple Pennsylvania Supreme Court cases.
· Work closely with gaming regulators to resolve various legal issues throughout license application process.
· Obtained dismissal of lawsuit against gaming operator for alleged failure to identify and exclude problem gambler.
Community Service & Affiliations
Mr. Fikry is an active member of several bar associations. He is the chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Casino Law Section, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Gaming Law Committee. Mr. Fikry is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Camden County Bar Association. Mr. Fikry served as vice-president of the Asian-Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey during the 2010-2011 term, and is currently the organization's South Jersey liaison.
Mr. Fikry also works on diversity initiatives for various organizations, and is a member of Blank Rome's Diversity Committee. He serves as a co-chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Diversity Committee and as the chair of the Camden County Bar Association's Diversity Committee. In 2011, Mr. Fikry was recognized by the Rutgers-Camden Asian Pacific American Law Students Association for his efforts in promoting diversity and support of the Asian-American legal community.
Mr. Fikry has served as a panel chair for the New Jersey District IV Fee Arbitration Committee.
