Biography

Eric H. J. Stahlhut is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg's Elkhart, Indiana office, where he concentrates his practice in representing management in labor and employment matters. Mr. Stahlhut's practice includes representation of companies in employment discrimination cases in federal and state courts; practice before the NLRB, DOL, and EEOC; collective bargaining; supervisory training; and day-to-day counseling in preventative measures to ensure compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws and regulations.

Mr. Stahlhut is a frequent lecturer on labor and employment issues to local chambers of commerce, industrial guilds, the Indiana State Bar Association, the National Business Institute, the Council on Education in Management, and Lorman Education Services. He is a board member and the membership director for the Michiana Human Resource Association.

Mr. Stahlhut obtained his B.A. magna cum laude from Bowdoin College. He obtained his J.D. cum laude from St. Louis University, where he was a member of the St. Louis University Law Journal. He obtained an LL.M. in labor law with distinction from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Stahlhut has authored articles which have appeared in the ABA's Labor Lawyer; the Labor Law Journal; Employee Relations Law Journal; the Indiana State Bar Association's Journal, Res Gestae; the Law Journal for the American Arbitration Association; the University of Dayton Law Review and other legal publications.

Mr. Stahlhut was recently selected for inclusion for the second consecutive year in the Best Lawyers in America in the area of labor and employment law.

Mr. Stahlhut has served the Indiana State Bar Association by working as an articles editor on the Written Publications Committee. He is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
