Professional Experience
Eric Sussman practices primarily in the area of employment litigation, but also handles commercial litigation and intellectual property matters. Eric regularly handles matters involving employment discrimination, wrongful termination, and breach of contract, including covenants not to compete. He has litigation experience in both state and federal court, including bench trial and jury trial experience. Eric also has substantial experience at the administrative agency level, including but not limited to handling matters before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Connecticut Department of Labor, and the Workers' Compensation Commission.
Eric's practice publishes Day Pitney's Employer's Law Blog (www.EmployersLawBlog.com), a weblog that presents the latest news in labor, employment, and employee benefits law.
Representative Matters
· Obtained a defendant's verdict in a federal age- and race-discrimination trial
· Successfully argued an appeal of a summary judgment ruling before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit
· Represented an employer in a lawsuit against a former employee for breach of a covenant not to compete and misappropriation of trade secrets, and obtained a favorable settlement following a preliminary injunction hearing in federal court
· Regularly counsels employers on various personnel issues, including employee terminations and the impact of antidiscrimination laws in the workplace
