| Biography | Erin Fury Parkinson is a member in the firm's New Orleans office. She remains active in firm management, presently serving on the firm's Associate and Professional Development Committees. In the recent past, she has been elected to the firm's Policy Committee and has been appointed to the firm's Nominating Committee. Litigation Erin is a litigation attorney focusing her practice in insurance defense, including coverage, bad faith, aviation, environmental, toxic exposure (including asbestos, benzene, and NORM claims), and product claims. While a significant portion of her practice is comprised of litigation in Louisiana and Texas state and federal courts, her practice has also included cases in several other states, including Florida, Nevada, Georgia, Mississippi, and Colorado. Erin has successfully represented her clients before the Federal 11th Circuit Court of Appeal, the Federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeal and, most recently, the Louisiana 5th Circuit Court of Appeal. In a case Grefer v. Travelers Ins. Co., that has far-reaching impact in the environmental area, the Louisiana Fifth Circuit issued an opinion upholding a pollution exclusion in a policy of insurance to deny coverage to the insured. To date, it is the only reported decision to uphold a pollution exclusion after performing the detailed analysis set forth by the Louisiana Supreme Court in the case of Doerr v. Mobil Oil. Erin remains active at her alma mater, Loyola Law School, serving as an invited instructor, teaching practical skills classes to Loyola Law School students.
