The firm was established in 1970 by Rafael Eyzaguirre Echeverria, a well-known and widely recognized lawyer and Professor of Business Law at the University of Chile, later Dean of the Law School and Professor Emeritus of the University of Chile; a prestigious law practitioner in arbitration and in international and business law, and Secretary General to the Chilean Senate. He formed the firm with his son, Gonzalo Eyzaguirre Smart, now the head of this prestigious firm. Since its origin, it has offered a complete range of legal services and is actively involved in all areas of Chilean law . In the last decades, the firm has been representing and giving legal advice to important national and foreign corporations, being also well known for litigation. In addition, Eyzaguirre & Cia. has developed a recognized expertise in mining law, commercial law, business strategies, organization, financing, merger, acquisition and restructuring of companies and taxation, among many other areas of practice. Starting year 2006, Cristian Eyzaguirre Smart has joined the firm as senior partner.
