Stephen Finch is a litigator and Partner with the Waterloo office of Miller Thomson. He has over 40 years of experience in all aspects of complex and difficult litigation. His practice includes commercial, corporate, estate, construction, land development and banking litigation. Stephen also represents and defends clients who have been charged under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Stephen regularly appears at all levels of our courts, including Trial Courts, Federal Courts, and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has also appeared on several occasions at the Supreme Court of Canada. Stephen has extensive trial experience, and has been lead counsel in large and complicated lawsuits.
Additionally, Stephen has received training in Mediation, and participates frequently in the Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution process.
Stephen has been recognized by Lexpert (2006) as having a "significant practice" and "a noteworthy professional reputation" in the field of Corporate/Commercial Litigation. He has also been professionally acknowledged by Martindale-Hubbell's Peer Review Rating System as having a significant corporate/commercial practice and a high standard of legal ability and integrity.
Stephen joined the firm in 1970 and has been a partner since 1976. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1985, and is currently co-chair of Miller Thomson's Kitchener-Waterloo Commercial Litigation practice core group.
