Forrest S. Latta is a partner in the firm's litigation section where he handles complex litigation and appellate work, areas for which he has been recognized in both Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers respectively.
Mr. Latta represents clients at both the trial and appellate level in cases involving business, insurance (including bad faith), product liability, and media law. His work for media clients helped earn the firm's listing by Fortune Magazine as a "Go To Law Firm" in the field of Media Law.
Mr. Latta holds an A-V rating from Martindale Hubbell.
Besides trial work Mr. Latta chairs the firm's Appellate Practice Section which often is picked to represent clients in significant appeals. Mr. Latta himself has participated in over 100 appellate cases including some landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases which re-shaped the law of punitive damages. He has served by appointment on the Alabama Supreme Court's Standing Committee for Appellate Rules and is named in Best Lawyers in the field of Appellate Litigation.
Mr. Latta earned his undergraduate degree from Troy University, summa cum laude, in 1980 and his law degree from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law, cum laude, in 1983. During law school he was an Associate Editor of the Cumberland Law Review and a member of the school's 1983 national trial team which finished #2 in the nation.
