Background
Frank Sperduti is a partner practicing in our Toronto office. He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance degree from the University of Toronto in 1992, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998.
Areas of Practice
Frank practices in the areas of civil litigation and administrative law, with emphasis on expropriations, planning, environmental law, commercial litigation and regulatory prosecutions.
Professional Experience
· Frank has acted as counsel in civil proceedings before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Divisional Court, regulatory and quasi-criminal proceedings and appeals before the Ontario Provincial Court, in addition to planning and expropriation proceedings before the Ontario Municipal Board, local Municipal Committees, Inquiry Officers, mediators and arbitrators.
· Frank provides litigation and negotiation services in a wide variety of commercial disputes, including expropriation claims, matters involving business loss claims, valuation and appraisal of real estate, property taxation, environmental contamination and landfill sites, insurance coverage and cost assessment
· Frank has acted for landowners and property acquisition authorities in land development applications and land compensation claims involving urban renewal projects, highway acquisitions and widenings, and municipal improvement projects. For example, Frank acts for landowners impacted by the Highway 407 East, the extension of Highway 404, the widening and realignment of Highway 7, Sheppard Avenue LRT and other large and small scale infrastructure projects in Ontario. Frank also routinely lectures and teaches expropriation law and process to groups ranging from professional appraisers to international delegates.

· Member of Board of Directors and Past President (2008-2009) of the Ontario Expropriation Association, member of the International Right of Way Association, the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada
· Lecturer for the Appraisal Institute of Canada, the Ontario Expropriation Association, the Alberta Expropriation Association, and Special Lecturer for the New Brunswick Association of Real Estate Appraisers, 2006
· Speaker and guest lecturer for community organizations, including local high schools including Harbord Collegiate, Toronto, October 2009, and community groups
· Contributing author of leading text on expropriation laws in Canada, "New Law of Expropriation", which is updated regularly
