Fritz Thomas represents clients in transactions and related corporate and securities law matters. His transactional practice focuses on stock acquisitions, asset acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, strategic alliances, financings, tender offers, shareholder arrangements and a variety of other transactions. Clients represented by Fritz include US, foreign and multinational corporations and other entities, both public and private. Transactions on which Fritz works include transactions occurring solely in the United States, transactions occurring in another country and transactions involving multiple jurisdictions. In addition to his transactional practice, Fritz advises boards of directors, committees of boards of directors and management regarding corporate governance, securities and other matters.

Fritz is the Partner in Charge of Mayer Brown's Chicago office and has been a member of the firm's Management Committee and has served as one of the co-heads of the firm's Corporate & Securities practice. Fritz joined Mayer Brown's Chicago office in 1975. From 1978 to 1981, he practiced in the firm's London Office and also taught corporation law as adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame's London Law Center (1980-1981). He resumed his practice with the Chicago office in 1981. From 1974 to 1975, he served as law clerk to the Honorable John C. Godbold, US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in Montgomery, Alabama.
