Biography

Rick Bateman has recovered tens of millions of dollars for companies and individuals in over 10 states in state and federal courts. His commercial litigation spans many industries, including banking, health care, insurance, land development, savings and loans, waste management, and state and federal agencies.

His impressive knowledge of banking and land use regulations enabled him to finalize a development agreement which in 2008 moved forward construction on a $75 million property that had been mired in state and federal litigation and bureaucracy for decades.

Rick's grasp of state and federal health regulations allowed him to successfully represent Humana Health Care and HCA in a 2003 litigation following the largest collapse of a federally funded HMO in history. Ultimately, his client, Humana, was able to purchase the assets of the HMO and utilize those assets to form the largest HMO in the state of Florida.

Inevitably, Rick has represented the famous and not so famous, including George Clinton of "P-funk" fame in his disputes regarding recording royalties. In 2009 he defended "Girls Gone Wild" producer Joe Francis in the famous ongoing legal saga in Panama City, Florida.

With the current struggles faced by the banking industry, Rick now spends a large amount of his time representing both companies and individuals, as well as banks, in disputes involving numerous business transactions.
