Fred Carter has been with Venable's Bankruptcy and Creditors' rights group since 2000. He concentrates on representation of creditors, debtors, creditors' committees, asset purchasers and trustees in all aspects of business reorganization and business liquidation. Mr. Carter's clients have included financial institutions, technology companies, a major international airport authority, energy trading companies, healthcare providers, Chapter 11 and 7 trustees and liquidating agents appointed under Chapter 11 plans. He has also represented plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of bankruptcy litigation in courts throughout the country. Prior to coming to Venable, Mr. Carter practiced law in Texas and Colorado. He also served as a member of the standing panel of Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees in the District of Colorado.
Activities
Mr. Carter has been a speaker on bankruptcy and creditors' rights topics at seminars and bar association events. He is also an active volunteer in the pro bono consumer debtor assistance program recently established by the bench and bar in the District of Maryland.

Mr. Carter has spoken at local and national events, including seminar presentations at programs sponsored by the Office of the United States Trustee for the District of Colorado and the American Bar Association.
