Randy Whittenberger is a principal in the Frederick office. He joined Miles & Stockbridge in 1989, after working as a trial lawyer with the firm, Semmes, Bowen & Semmes, in Baltimore. He has a great deal of trial experience, concentrating in civil litigation with particular emphasis on commercial litigation, collections, creditors' rights, developer zoning rights, insurance defense, products liability defense, commercial evictions, real estate, wills and trusts and securities litigation. Through the years Randy has been to Court countless times as lead counsel representing banks, small and mid-sized companies, partnerships, insurance companies, commercial property owners and individuals on a diverse range of legal issues before State and Federal courts, Appellate courts, Orphans' courts, arbitration panels and administrative and governmental zoning bodies.
Randy has obtained successful results for a broad range of clients. Of note is the published case, Sheetz v. Frederick Planning Commission, 106 Md.App. 531, 665 A.2d 327 (1995), standing for the proposition that local government has an affirmative duty to assist developers in their site plan applications. Clients often have turned to him to collect large obligations in problem debt situations.
