    Biography

    Gabe focuses his practice on all aspects of patent prosecution, including initial stages of patent application strategy and planning, application drafting and ex parte prosecution before the USPTO. He also has been involved in the counseling of a variety of biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients on the management and development of their patent portfolios. In addition, Gabe provides advice and counseling in due diligence projects by way of opinions as to patentability, freedom to operate, infringement and validity in connection with various transactions, litigation or other proceedings. He also has experience in interference proceedings before the USPTO, opposition proceedings in Europe, and litigation support in pharmaceutical drug patent disputes under the Hatch-Waxman Act.

    Notable Experience

    · Gabe has managed substantial intellectual property portfolios on behalf of academic institutions, small molecule pharmaceutical corporations, and emerging biotechnology companies both in the United States, Europe and in other countries around the world.

    · He has advised medical device companies, including one of the world's leading medical device manufacturers, on a variety of patent prosecution and due diligence patent issues involving the procurement of new patents, acquisition of new technologies, and patent challenges.

    · Gabe has obtained or has been involved in obtaining important US and foreign patents for a variety of biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients in a variety of technologies, including small molecule compounds, protein and nucleic acid therapeutics, diagnostic and drug screening assays, dyes, recombinant organisms, therapeutic antibodies, anti-viral technologies, drug delivery systems, stents and intravascular technologies, medical devices, and RNA interference.

    · He has performed extensive legal research and analysis of biotechnology and chemical patents for a variety of due diligence projects in connection with various financial transactions, litigations, oppositions and interferences before the USPTO.
