Practice/Industry Group Overview
As electronic discovery and document retention become a more important aspect of litigation, reducing their costly and disruptive effects on daily operations is a critical business objective. Gardere's Electronic Discovery and Document Retention Team assists clients in assessing IT systems, email, financial systems, and related document retention issues both before there is a problem and/or after litigation begins. Members of the team have years of diverse experience in the computer industry managing complex Information Technology (IT) systems, developing software, and consulting. Other members have graduate and undergraduate degrees in computer science.
In addition to our own experience, our lawyers work with various experts specializing in consulting and managing electronic evidence. We also provide training for in-house attorneys and IT professionals to prepare for and deal with electronic evidence.
The Gardere Electronic Discovery and Document Retention Team provides preventative and defensive legal services in many areas including:
- IT department assessment
- Preparing and assisting with implementing document retention policies
- Supervising third party consultants in discovery
- Training legal and other professionals
