Representative Experience
Gary has broad experience in trials and appeals of civil actions, including complex cases in state and federal courts and multi-district litigation. He has defended manufacturers in a wide variety of claims involving, among others, pharmaceutical, automotive, vaccine, asbestos, and swimming pool products. He also represents businesses, lawyers, government agencies and officials, physicians, schools, and industry in commercial, product liability, professional liability, aquatics liability, athletic injury, catastrophic personal injury actions, civil rights and law enforcement liability actions, and regulatory litigation. Gary also represents businesses and insurers in commercial insurance coverage disputes.
Gary has participated in over 125 appeals before North Carolina's state and federal appellate courts. He has also participated in over 75 trials in state and federal courts in North Carolina.

Gary has authored or presented over 40 articles for seminars or publications sponsored by, among others, the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, and the Wake Forest University School of Law.

Gary has spoken on a variety of topics, including trial technique, admissibility of expert testimony, legal malpractice claims avoidance, insurance coverage and claims practices, defense of legal malpractice claims, and legal ethics.
