Biography

Geoffrey Heaven assists in prosecuting patents for a wide variety of clients within the electrical and software engineering industry. His background includes administering hardware and software support for automated control systems. Additionally, Mr. Heaven worked at Amazon.com, Inc. in its IP legal department analyzing and determining risk factors for a variety of its products and patents.

Background and Credentials:
Geoffrey Heaven earned his J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. As Notes Editor of The George Washington Journal of Energy & Environmental Law, he also served as President of the School's Alternative Dispute Resolution Board and was chosen to compete in the 2010 ABA Negotiation Competition. Mr. Heaven graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. During the Spring 2006 semester, Mr. Heaven participated in a team project involving the design and construction of a simplified computer interface for persons with arm movement disabilities. He designed and constructed the computer interface hardware that communicated with the graphical user interface. Mr. Heaven was also the Texas Alpha chapter vice president of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society.

Mr. Heaven's legal experience includes researching and writing legal memoranda on the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for the United States Department of Energy, as well as drafting and amending patent applications for a high speed induction generator control system and a reusable, flexible personal restraint for Tetradigm Group, LLC.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Heaven worked as a Global Product Support engineer at Applied Materials, Inc., a Fortune 500 company that provides manufacturing products to the semiconductor and solar photovoltaic industries. He managed field escalations, upgrades, and new product introductions on automated controller platforms to assure seamless and efficient function of silicon wafer movement robots at customer sites.
