Geoffrey Walker's practice focuses on all aspects of Canadian and international taxation. He advises on the taxation aspects of mergers and acquisitions, financing and commercial transactions, corporate structuring and reorganizations, personal and corporate tax, trusts, partnerships and hybrid entities. His areas of expertise include equity and debt structuring, financing of infrastructure through public-private partnerships and international and cross-border structuring and finance. He also advises on the structuring and finance of tax-exempt entities, non-resident trusts and wealth management structures and on the investments they make, as well as on international transfer pricing and the establishment and maintenance of multijurisdictional structures.
In addition, Mr. Walker manages estate and family planning for high-net-worth clients and offers private company advice and planning services. He acts on behalf of clients in tax disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency. He also acts for public and private companies, tax-exempt entities, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
Mr. Walker has advised on the structuring and finance of public-private partnerships for hospitals, toll roads, aircraft, schools, sports and recreation facilities, electricity distribution and wind power projects.
Mr. Walker serves as General Counsel to Green Shield Canada, a major not-for-profit health benefits provider.
