Mr. Snyder has over thirty-five years of experience in the practice of intellectual property (IP) law. He has handled a wide variety of patent, trademark and copyright matters for clients ranging from Fortune 500 to start-up companies. His areas of concentration encompass the life sciences, industrial chemistry, consumer goods branding, and more recently green technology.
Mr. Snyder holds a chemistry degree, and his patent law expertise extends to all major fields of chemical technology, including polymer chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, diagnostic chemistry, catalytic chemistry, and metallurgical chemistry. In addition, he is conversant with numerous other technologies, such as those utilized in the electronic payment processing, biotechnology, chemical sensor, e-commerce, and mechanical fields (to name some). This skill set enables him to assist clients in dealing with a broad spectrum of patent law tasks, such as procuring patent protection for life sciences or environmentally friendly technologies, rendering opinions on the non-infringement or invalidity of others' patents in those fields, and pursuing the adjudication or other resolution of disputes relating to life sciences or green tech patent rights.
Mr. Snyder likewise has substantial experience in all phases of trademark law practice. This runs from evaluation of the availability of marks or brands clients would like to use, to the procurement of registrations and the policing of such marks or brands, especially in the consumer goods, hospitality, and international trade-promotion fields.
Mr. Snyder has handled inter partes cases on behalf of patent and trademark owners, the defense of alleged infringers, interference and opposition proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and major studies undertaken to "clear" the introduction of new products, services and brand names into the marketplace.
Also, Mr. Snyder has substantial experience in agreement work concerning the intellectual property aspects of merger and stock- or asset-related transactions, as well as intellectual property licensing. For instance, he recently conducted patent-intensive "due diligence", as well as agreement-preparation, for one of the parties in a transaction centering on clean tech for converting biological waste into useful farming products.
