| Biography | George began working in Spain for a national law firm in 1982 with a strong international vocation and was seconded to Clifford Chance in 1985 working then on European competition and trade law. In 1986 he joined the law practice of Arthur Andersen which was then just beginning and helped to grow it. He contributed significantly to the internal development of other lawyers through teaching courses. Through those years he also taught post-graduate law programs at the Instituto de Empresa (Business law, 1992-1994) and Escuela de Organización Industrial (International contract law, 1995), colleges both in Madrid. He moved to Garrigues, the largest law firm in Spain when it merged with Arthur Andersen in 1986 and became a partner there in 2001 until his resignation in 2011, under that firm's early retirement policy. He headed many client projects involving both international implications and purely national law issues, in many sectors including manufacturing, raw materials, insurance, real estate, defense, technology and entertainment. Author of: Spanish Corporations Law, 1994; The Spanish Legal System, 1996. Lecturer at post-graduate college courses at Instituto de Empresa, Madrid 1992-1994. Lecturer at Escuela de Organización Industrial, Madrid 1991-1995. Speaker at numerous conferences and seminars such as for example: "Legal aspects of exporting" Illinois Governor's Conference on Crossing International Borders, Chicago, 1995; "Doctrines of Good Faith in European Jurisdictions", AA Partner/manager meeting, Edinburgh, 1996; "Legal aspects of corporate internationalization", ICEX,(Spanish Official Foreign Trade Board), Madrid 1997; Responsible for the development and design of the European wide legal training course on international contract law at Arthur Andersen, Eindhoven, 1993. |
