West Michigan Defense Team, Kortes, Lykins, Hunting, and Jansma PLLC. was established by Gerald R. Lykins, Jeffrey T. Kortes, Mark P. Hunting, and Jason L. Jansma in the beginning of 2013. Gerald, more commonly referred to as Jerry, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and he received his Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio in 1994. Jerry is licensed to practice law in three states, Michigan, Kentucky, and Ohio. Jerry practiced as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for approximately four years prior to establishing his law firm. Jerry worked for two-and-a-half years with the Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office in Louisville, Kentucky. He also worked for one year with the Kent County Prosecutor's Office in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Jerry has successfully completed courses in Drunk Driving, Trial Advocacy, and Career Prosecuting. Currently, he is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Michigan Bar Association.

Kortes, Lykins, Hunting, and Jansma PLLC, concentrates in Criminal Law, which includes all felony and misdemeanor offenses. Kortes, Lykins, Hunting, and Jansma PLLC, is capable of consulting in many different areas of law. Our primary areas of practice are all criminal defense cases in the local, state, and federal courts. Additionally, we can offer consultation in some areas of family law.
