Gerard A. McInnis is Of Counsel in the Chicago, Illinois office of Jackson Lewis P.C
Mr. McInnis has a broad range of experience in traditional labor law. He regularly counsels employers on all aspects of labor law and has represented employers in representation and unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), arbitrations under collective bargaining agreements, contract negotiations, and numerous other administrative proceedings. He regularly advises clients regarding union organizing campaigns and elections and has significant experience in training company managers and supervisory personnel in the area of union avoidance. He also has litigated numerous cases in state court to obtain restraining orders and injunctions to prevent unlawful union picketing and violence during labor disputes. Mr. McInnis was named one of the Top One Hundred Labor Attorneys in America by Labor Relations Institute, Inc. based on his representation of employers before the NLRB.
Mr. McInnis also practices extensively in the employment law area and regularly litigates employment discrimination cases at the agency, pretrial, and trial levels. His practice covers the spectrum of state and federal employment litigation, including claims of race, age, disability and sex discrimination, as well as sexual harassment, and retaliatory discharge. He has broad experience dealing with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as state and local employment agencies throughout the United States.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. McInnis was a partner in a major Chicago firm where he practiced labor and employment law. He also previously served as senior counsel for a national telecommunications company where he was responsible for labor and employment matters in five Midwestern states.
Mr. McInnis is a member of the Illinois and American Bar Associations' Labor and Employment Law Sections and a member of the ABA Committee on Practice and Procedure Under the National Labor Relations Act. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Missouri, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of Illinois, the Eastern District of Michigan, the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the U.S States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. McInnis received his B.A., with high honors, in political science from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois.
