Gilmore, Rees & Carlson, P.C. was established by Daniel J. Gilmore, William J. Rees and Christopher T. Carlson, all former partners in the Trusts and Estates Department at the Boston law firm of Hale and Dorr (today known as WilmerHale). The Firm was founded in 1988 with two primary objectives: first, to build a sophisticated legal practice in the metropolitan Boston area that was accessible, affordable and convenient to clients, and second, to create an atmosphere that would enable the Firm's attorneys to foster a close and supportive relationship with their clients. The firm has grown quickly and dramatically, and has gained a reputation for expertise in complex and sophisticated trust, tax, estate, probate, real estate and business law matters. A majority of the trusts and estates partners have been elected Fellows of the prestigious American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Although broadly based in New England, the firm's ever growing client base now spans many more states and includes clients in a number of foreign countries. The firm has two convenient suburban Boston locations, in Franklin on Route 495 and in Wellesley on Route 128. In 1997 a Providence, Rhode Island office was opened.
